Martin Luther King did not die in vain.

Once, on a historic day in Washington, this eloquent man who preached justice and brotherly love told his huge audience:

"I have a dream ... that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: 'We hold this truth to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.' "

That dream, voiced in 1963 to an awesome throng of 200,000 in the shadow of the Lincoln Memorial, today seems further from reality than ever.
